Designing a Smarter Unboxing Experience

Elevating a milestone product launch through strategic, detail-driven packaging design.

Stakeholder:

Helcim Marketing, 2023

My Role:

Visual Direction, Packaging Structure and Layout Design

Outcome:

A brand-cohesive sleeve and refined box structure, making every unboxing feel sleek, tech-driven, and unmistakably on-brand.

Process:

I started by redesigning the sleeve layout of the previously used packaging. Then I spotted an opportunity to improve the internal structure, pitched it to leadership, and got it approved. From there, I explored layout and structure options through sketches, improvised cardboard mock-ups, and locally printed stock models. The final redesign placed all accessories beneath the terminal, creating clean white space around it for a sleek, modern presentation with the product front and center.

Working through multiple feedback rounds with marketing and design leads, I developed mood boards exploring color and terminal visuals, leading to an all-brand-color gradient front and a 1:1 scaled product render placed directly over the actual terminal for a continuous visual experience. I collaborated with the logistics team and produced explanatory videos and visuals for the production team in China to ensure both structural and visual precision.

Precisely sized accessory boxes act as both a level and structural support for the terminal.
